I want what she has
“Ooh I want what she has.”
Noticing this feeling helps guide my life. It can be tricky because we must guard ourselves against letting marketing exploit our insecurities.
I am truly enchanted when I encounter this sort of authentic women:
She is plugged into life for energy and carries a joy in all things, concurrent to the highs and lows of life.
She is sovereign in her inner knowing and integrity – it’s as though she wears an invisible crown.
She breathes with her whole body.
She has great sensitivity and insight into the natural world.
She is an active part of intergenerational community.
She embodies gratitude, abundance, and generosity.
She leans into trusting the transformative power of love.
It can be so easy to say “I can’t possibly become that amazing.” But the longing itself reflects that the quality is already there, just asking for help.
Cultivation is key. We become what we practice. That’s why I fell in love with women’s traditional dances; every step and pulse of music guides us in embodying this highest possibility for ourselves.
Ideally, as we integrate the qualities we desire, we then have them to share. We can stand in our joy and offer it to others. That’s why last week Wisdom Dances did something new: we gave our premier performance at a residence for older adults. One woman said “This is the most fun I’ve had since I woke up today.” We deeply enjoyed it too.
Each of us needs moments that reflect to us all that we have learned and are becoming, moments when we can see our presence having an impact on others. Find your practice and your community of cheerleaders and go for it!
Love,
Emily
