Winter Solstice Celebration
Winter Solstice Celebration with Wisdom Dances
Affirming the Joy and resilience of life even in our darkest season
Live music, reflection, and the healing power of circle dances.
Let’s gather for an evening of beauty, connection, and reflection to welcome the return of light. Gorgeous music and meditative circle dances have a calming power that can break through the hectic or heavy energy of this season. This embodied, participatory celebration awakens connection to life energy that embraces and flows through all the ups and downs of life.
This year’s celebration will begin and end with dances that honor Mary, evoking her fearlessness, her faith, and her presence with us as we cross over one threshold to the next. There will be opportunity to reflect on your past year’s highs and lows and small group sharing. Dancing by candlelight will help us attune to the inner light within. We will also continue the Wisdom Dances tradition of drawing a word which can accompany you through the year.
Friday, December 19, 6:30 – 8 PM
Olivet Congregational Church.
1850 Iglehart Ave, Saint Paul
Led by Emily Jarrett Hughes
Music by Greg Herriges

You are Welcome!
Welcome, especially if you are new to dancing. No experience is necessary to participate in these simple circle dances from the Balkans, Greece, and Asia Minor. Everything will be taught first and the group together helps the dances dance themselves. The dances are very gentle and many people report their aches and pains feel better after dancing. Often we have some in our midst who have a health challenge requiring them to sit for some of the dances and this is still a rich experience for both those sitting and those dancing. All genders welcome.
