3 Key Ingredients for Sleep (and Sanity)

Sleep is a mirror that never lies. If I’m stirred up, so is my sleep.

In our incredibly agitated times, I’ve realized how much I need to prioritize giving myself space to process and discharge extra energy.

Here are three key ingredients for my sleep and sanity.

Time outside:

  • Appreciating the beauty

  • Noticing the change of seasons and helping the body acclimate with it

  • Getting my blood pumping in the fresh air

Time with people:

  • Connecting over a meal

  • Sharing heart to heart connections

  • Being in a circle, where we are each seen and supported

Space to honor these liminal times:

On a daily basis, journaling and meditation are central to helping me move through these wild times.

As we approach the darkest three months of the year, a powerful season of liminality, it also really helps to have time for:

  • Honoring the specific personal losses we have each experienced this year

  • Holding space for existential grief for planet, for principles, and for the people

  • Remembering the ancestors that are available to support and guide us

  • Anchoring ourselves in the larger purpose of becoming a great ancestor for the future

These three elements of time with nature, time with people, and space to honor the liminal, are key elements of the coming Ancestor Celebration.

My soul hungrily awaits for all that goodness. How about you?

Big love,

Emily
