Radical Rest
Welcome to the dark season!
It’s time to rest.
Rest like the it’s the most radical, liberating, life and world transforming thing you can do. Truly!
To rest is to say I am enough, I’ve done enough, I have enough.
It is completely opposite the relentless cultural messages that say we need to have more and do more, in an endless and twisted pursuit of joy.
On a basic level, rest can look like: getting enough sleep, setting boundaries with work, fasting from food, things or habits, staying home, or one of my favorites, not using electric lighting.
Resting is also possible within our activity and daily lives. This is part of what allows us to have an attitude of rest even within urgent times.
Someone who has mastered this might have a floating yet grounded quality to their movements, or have many things happen effortlessly through synchronicities, or probably has a smile on their face.
Rest improves our ability to show up.
Rest reminds us that our best contributions come not from us, but through us.
Rest affirms that we are supported by a loving Universe
To rest is to say I have joy in my aliveness now, regardless of circumstances.
To rest is to say I trust something bigger than me.
In the spirit of the season:
The Thursday dance class meets 4 – 5:30 Nov. – Jan. so we all can have more evening rest time at home.
Explore the Universal love that allows us to rest, as embodied by the Black Madonna, in the Early Winter session of Grandmothers’ Garden.
Wishing you healing and radical rest,
emily
