Yes, it was Magic

I’ve decided I can be unabashed and say I’ve experienced magic this summer.

Being able to help a stressed-out person find ease never ceases to feel like magic. And well, dancing next to a rushing creek to live music with flowers in my hair? Definitely magic.

In the past I’ve hesitated to write that word, because I didn’t want it to be taken the wrong way. 

Then I came across Robert Moss’s definition of magic in his book, The Three “Onlys”:

Magic is the art of reaching into a deeper reality and bringing gifts from it into the ordinary world.

Like a bell, this wonderful definition describes what is happening in my dance and qigong circles.

When I feel myself blurring into a circle of community, blending into gorgeous music, and merging with nature in my dancing, I do indeed taste a deeper reality.

When my meditation takes me into the deep peace of the universe it wakes up a recognition of a deeper reality in every cell in my body.

I come back from those wonderful experiences knowing something more is possible in my regular life.

The gifts can look like this:

  • Openings appearing where it seemed to be a dead end. 

  • Synchronicities and opportunities finding you.

  • Trust that on some level, everything will be okay.

  • A sense that you are living your life on purpose and aligned with a bigger story.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to feel like your life was filled with magic, that is, with gifts from a deeper reality?
